valencia pics

Here's the old fashioned ticket windows in the Valencia train station.

This is the view just outside the station

Here's the amphitheater next to the station.

Another view down the street by the station. It's such a different look from Barcelona!!

This is their uber-famous market. It's alled the Mercat Central and it's a modernista building, as is the train station, apparently.

I believe this is La Lonja de la Seda. It was like a castle or fortress, randomly in the middle of town.

If I remember correctly, this was part of it.

This chruch was behind it. The church itself wasn't that neat, but I liked the doors.

This was such a whirlwind trip I don't even know if this is on the same church! I think it might have been on another side of the fortress.

I wandered some alleys, thinking I was going to come to the central historical area. Turns out the map is on a bigger scale than I thought and I was nosing around the wrong street! They were intersting streets though. I was cruising because I was afraid of being mugged in the dark and apparently looked like I knew where I was going because someone asked me for directions.

There were LOADS of churches... EVERYWHERE!

Then I FINALLY found where I was supposed to be! This is an important church because it only has one huge tower. I think this is the one! I forget where I read that and what it's called. Oops.

Then I found the main cathedral, Conjunto Cathedralico, and the Basilica Virgen de los Desamprados behind.

Here's a dilapidated old building beside the cathedral.

Then I was behind the cathedral.

And next to the Bascilica

Los dos...

Then I kept going and came to a new sort of thing. I still don't really know what it was... Torres de Serranos.

Then I wandered back by the Cathedral and Bascilica-- around the OTHER other side. Here's a covered arch between the Catherdal and something else...

I spied on mass in the Bascilica.

Here's another neat building.

And some people walking in the alleyway.

Next photoworthy thing? THE OVERNIGHT TRAIN!
