Look out, Granada! I'm on my waaaaaay...

I left the internet cafe earlier than necessary. I stopped at a market on the way to the train station to get snacks. At the station, I read my book a bit then busted my luggage out of the locker and brushed my teeth and put on my sweats in the batrhoom.
The train came and I got on. My cabin was locked but the conductor knocked harder than I had and the door opened. I started to try to maneuver my suitcase and the lady in the lower bunk across from me said something about "mas pequito." Ya, I'M the one struggling to move it in here. Do you honestly think I don't know it's big?! I did my best to stow my things and get into bed in the dark.
I got jostled more than a little bit by the train, not going to lie. At the beginning, I thought I might fall out of bed! I got up to use the bathroom and couldn't help but wonder why train bathrooms are always FILTHY!
At 7:30, I felt my cabin-mates pushing on my mattress. I was wondering why they were setting stuff on my side and then realized they wanted me to get up. I smiled and sat up and looked at the clock. Uhhhh you know it's SEVEN thirty? My ticket said we weren't supposed to get in until 8:35. I showed it to the one who was still in the cabin with my clock. She shook her head and said "siete." Excuse me? Why would my ticket be printed wrong? Also, if you were right, we'd be arriving now aaaand we're not. Thanks for waking me up and turning on the light, though!
At the station, I got breakfast to stall a little, thinking I'd stow my luggage and then go to the baths. Then I went to the customer service center. I asked about stowing my luggage and the man seemed to know what I was going to say and interrupted me with an impatient no. I think he also knew I was asking for a map next before it even came out of my mouth. I got the same response. I took my suitcase and walked up the street hoping for a map by a bus stop or something. A few blocks later, I decided that was stupid and went back to the taxis by the station. I got one to take me to my hotel even though it was hardly past 10 and checkin wasn't until 2.
The hotel was really snazzy and further out of town than I'd expected. I would swear I chose it due to its proximity to... SOMETHING! It had a "Narazi" theme. It had lots of diamonds on top of squares and lots of arched doorways. It had loads of tiling and was generally really nice, especially the pool/garden area. If ONLY it was another season!!

The woman at the reception desk gave me a key and let me have my room early. THANK GOD. Here's the view out my window.

I went up and got straight into the bed. I was going to try to get back up in time to go to the baths, but accidentally set my clock, not my alarm. I woke up around one. I showered and got myself ready for the day. It felt like a whole nother day even though it was still the one in which I arrived in Granada. More on the day's adventures to come. TBC...

  2. I don't remember Spaniards being so difficult. I'm happy you are able to make headway in spite of the walls that have been thrown up.
