sunday continued...continued

I went back down to the museum bit. It's in the attic which was originally designed for clotheslines and water tanks. I started to look at the exhibits. They had a lot of crazy natural things, like a python skeleton and a shaving of the bark of a palm tree. These were supposed to show things that inspired the man. The skeleton really was freaky, like a centipede or something, but HUGE! Also, there were models of some of Gaudi's other work. I decided after brief tour of the museum that I hadn't actually had enough of the terrace so I went back up to the roof!

After a tour around clockwise, I decided I should probably call it a day since the sun was starting to go down. I went to the 20's bourgeois apartment. There are also design details that Gaudi designed that are still there. The ceilings, area around the door frames, floors, doorknobs... Gaudi had it planned down to the details. My favorite part was the floor in the parlor 2990. I also loved the modeling on the walls around the doors and windows.

I also like the chandeliers, but I don't think those are really related to Gaudi. I noticed in the kitchen that the counters were REALLY high, which is especially weird because 1920's people were even shorter! Also, in the apartment, they had the hexagonal patterened tiles that they have as sidewalk outside on Passeig-de-Gracia. I should have guessed from the beginning that those were Gaudi.
Then I noticed there were LIGHTS on the roof lighting up all of the chimneys and vents. I REALLY considered going up for a third viewing, but decided that was probably frowned upon. I would have been going against the arrows. Also, I'd twisted my ankle on my last roof visit. I decided I wasn't interested in putting it through the stress of all the steps back up. So instead I took the stairs DOWN. The stair well was really cool, with waves along the wall. There was green at the top and brown down closer to the stairs. The railing had ribbons of metal below the banister.

At the bottom, I was in the patio of the second building. It was really neat with almost watercolor-y painting on the ceilings. The ceilings themselves sort of cascaded down. It was really cool. Again, there was a stairwell with a ribbon of metal under the rail.

Up the stairs was the temporary exhibition hall. It had some sculptor whose name starts with M, something like Maillol. He had a bunch of green nudes. I was not a fan. I did notice that the ceiling of the exhibit was Gaudi-ed up. It had nice swirls. The security guard clearly thought I was leaving too early because he asked me if I didn't like it. I gave him a MEH face. He tried to convince me it was great. I wasn't having it. I DID have some more photos on the way out though.

I went home and played with my pictures briefly before going to meet my friends at Lalola. They'd beat me and gotten 3 Coca-lites. I was amused that there was already a soda waiting for me when I arrived. I had a bikini. How funny does that sound? It's actually basically a grilled ham and cheese sandwhich. It was delish. Then we all had dessert. I had limon sorbet. It was VERY lemon but delish as well.
Then Steph and I went to play a round of pool. I think it may be our new hobby. She pointed out that we're basically on the same level. It makes for a good game. Steph was feeling guilty about playing when she had lessons to plan, but said "we're here for a good time, not a long time!" That's my new favorite saying, I think.

I walked home and went to bed.
