tuesday bluesday

I woke up feeling rather sick again. Today I had a serious headache so I decided to look extra cute. I wore a shirt/dress. When you feel bad, sometimes you have to compensate. Mikaela gave me some advil at school.
Our first lesson was on modal auxiliary verbs. Then we had a lesson on Task-Based Learning. We no longer have to stick with the presentation-practice-production method of lesson planning. Task based learning works in the opposite way. You start with a big project. I like it because it puts the lesson in context from the start and students are invested in the activity before they learn the grammar or lexis. It seems more fun and motivating.
For lunch, we went back to the bakery/pastry shop. It has a better atmoshere so we're more likely to stay to chat, which we did.
After lunch, I worked on my one-on-one project. It's a bear. Then we had to watch Jen (the job guidance lady) give a task-based lesson. It was really interesting and I felt she made some of the same mistakes I do even though she's 3+ years into teaching. Maybe I'm going to be ok! Also, I thought about some of the teachers I knew in Korea and the lazy attitude they had. There are good teachers and bad teachers and LOADS in between. I want to be a good teacher. I may not be there yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm not a bad teacher. That made me feel a little better. However, my friends are excelling already. That made me feel worse. Still on square one emotionally? Perhaps.
We took the subway to go out to eat. In the tube stop, they have a HUGE vending machine.
Steph felt a little hesitant about going into Pizza Marzanno because that's where her "purse" (wallet) was stolen, but decided she could handle it. I had a coke light and maccaroni and cheese with pepperoni. Lots of food here has EXCESSIVE amounts of cheese. During dinner, I was officially quoted as saying "have a shower" as opposed to take. I've adopted that from British, from Steph. YIKES! My verbs and prepositions and stuff are going slightly wonky.
After dinner, at home, I talked to Alix and Rik. Alix said it was weird/sad that we never see eachother even though we live together. They also asked me about Jen because they're apparently good friends with her. Then we talked about me staying on in the apartment for an extra week. I want to do some serious sight seeing. Also, Tom and Youngja from Korea are coming to visit Barcelona and I want to be here to see them AND it's Steph's birthday that week. I just CAN'T leave yet!
