I got up and looked online for my friends, but they were missing. I finished my big paper for school and did my laundry. Leaning out the window to hang it outside made ME feel like I might fall. I kept thinking about how awful it would be if I lost my laundry down several stories. I cautiously clothes pinned each garment to the wire and made sure to devote ample care to holding onto things as I draped them on the wire. I’m glad I only have to hang my laundry like this once.
Finally, I got a message inviting me to my friends’ house for dinner. I watched TV online for the first time since my arrival in Spain and then went over to their house. Turns out this is the one time that they woke up and were ready to move before me. They went to Park Guell without me. I was a little disappointed, but also sort of accepted it. One of us is always accidentally left out. In the cell phone age, we have trouble remembering to make solid plans because we forget we can’t figure it out later. We had risotto at their house then Steph, her brother and I went to play some pool. Then we went to another bar nearby that used to be a theater. It still had a box office out front and lots of décor on the inside that was theater-related—ropes and ladders and things across the ceiling and a relief mural of a theater scene on the wall. Upstairs, they had a second room for smokers. It was like walking into a fog. We sat downstairs and chatted for a couple of hours, then home to bed.

Doesn't sound so boring -- disappointing since you missed the outing but still pretty good -- the theater restaurant sounds really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI was a little bummed since the hike I was going on with Steve (Steve Thaw, from around the corner in the overgrown house) was cancelled due to threatening weather. So I went for a short hike by Rancho Laguna. It was great and didn't rain till the last 10 minutes coming back. I gathered a pocket full of acorns and planted them in the field next to Ageis. Then I was soaked but close to home and a shower.
ReplyDeleteyou're the acorn man!!
ReplyDeleteyeah, i guess it was only moring compared to what i missed.
