Friday funday

I woke up early to finish working on my lesson plan for my one-to-one. At school, our first lesson was on conditionals. It was neat because Geoff had us teach them to each other. During our break, I got a chocolate covered donut from Paul, a bakery near school that Erwin says has been there for over a century. We stood outside to eat our snacks. It was a really nice sunny day! Then we had a lesson on implementing drama in the classroom. We did a lot of drama drills that were fun.
For lunch, we went to Fornet? wherever we always eat. I had a baguette with ham and cheese. Mikaela and I were basically alone because Steph was having a job interview also in our lunch place.
After lunch, we had a job guidance meeting. I told Jen to go ahead and send out my resume to the schools in Barcelona. I’m soooooort of considering the possibility of staying here. I’d have to find another place to live and DUH a job, but I’d consider it if it was easy enough.
I left the lesson 15 minutes early because my one-to-one was supposed to be starting. My student didn’t come! The class let out and I was still sitting there. I told Geoff about it and he said “oh yeah, this happens every session.” Excuse me?! This is a serious problem for ME! Then he found a note somewhere: “Katia, Rosa can’t manage 1 to 1. But will come at 16.00 to class.” And her phone number. Eh-hem? I wish I’d gotten that note sooner and could have stayed in the job guidance class. I waited for her to come to class and arranged to meet with her after class for our lesson. Then, I went home for a nap. I had SO been looking forward to being done with class by 4 and now I just got a break. Lame.
In my square, it was like someone had dumped out a playground at recess. There were LOADS of kids and more coming in strollers from the side streets. It was insanity.
Back at school, Rosa was waiting for me. Her class wasn’t even supposed to be over yet! We jumped straight into it. She told me LOADS about being a lawyer and I gave her new vocab as it came up. Then we breezed through the exercises I’d brought and my mock interview. It was easier than I’d expected.
Then I went home, changed my outfit and headed back out to Mikaela and Steph’s. Mikaela’s boyfriend is visiting and he made us all dinner. We joked about how it was like Christmas dinner—it was very cozy at their table and it was really good food. The Swedes came over too. Also, Steph’s brother is visiting. We played some games and chatted and then went out to a club that Mikaela and Steph’s flatmate’s exboyfriend recommended. It was a bit of a walk. It was a little bit small but there were records hanging from the ceiling and they had good music. When that closed, most of us followed some people we’d just met several blocks away to another club. We were out until about 6.

  1. Another interesting spot -- where do you find vinyl anymore. I like the variety.

  2. Good friends and a "Christmas" dinner. That's one to remember -- nice!
